Today I wanted to share with you how essential oils can help us in our everyday lives to de-stress, reduce anxiety and sleep better (something many of us can use help with!).

Many oils are calming and relaxing and they help us de-stress on many levels – emotionally, mentally and physically. They are so easy to use and make such a difference! Here are some ideas to get you started.

Ylang Ylang  ( Find it HEREUseful for treating, anxiety, depression, stress and tension. Creates a sense of relaxed wellbeing. Euphoric, aphrodisiac, sensuous, calming, Floral and exotic – a luxurious fragrance.

Sandalwood ( Find it HERE) Warm, woody fragrance that is relaxing, restorative, aphrodisiac, soothing. Calming effect on the brain – was traditionally used in meditation.

Frankincense ( Find it HERE) Calming and uplifting, a smoky scent with a hint of lemon. Helps to lengthen and deepen breathing, traditionally used in meditation.

Bergamot ( Find it HERE) A refreshing citrus scent; invigorating without being over stimulating. Joyous, refreshing, uplifting, antidepressant. Good for tension, stress and irritability.

4 Ways to use Essential Oils to Relax and De-stress

Oil burner 7-8 drops in an oil burner (Top tip – light your oil burner in your bedroom half an hour before going to bed and keep your bedroom door closed, when you go up to bed your room will smell wonderful! Or do the same in your living room when relaxing in the evening)

Tissue 2-3 drops on a tissue to smell when needed, inhale slowly and deeply.

Bath My favourite end of the day bath blend is 3 tablespoons sea salt mixed with 3 drops Ylang Ylang, 3 drops Frankincense and 3 drops Bergamot.

Night Time Facial oil – 10 ml jojoba oil mixed with 4 drops essential oil such as 2 drops Frankincense and 2 drops Bergamot. As a bonus Frankincense is cytophalactic meaning it speed up cellular renewal there for is an excellent anti-aging oil!

Healing Power of Bergamot Essential Oil

Treating Acne

Add 2 drops of bergamot essential oil to 4-5 drops of virgin coconut oil and apply 1 drop to the face before or after a shower depending on the level of moisturizing you prefer.

Treating Cold Sores

Apply less than 3 drops directly to the cold sore as soon as it’s coming on, or dilute with virgin coconut oil and apply several times a day.

Depression Relief

Apply few drops of bergamot essential oil to the palm of the hand, rub your hands together, and cup over the nose and mouth for up to one minute several times a day. Also apply 1 drop over the abdomen several times a day.

Digestion Relief

Massage 1-2 drops of bergamot oil into the stomach as needed or with each meal.

Treating Eczema

Mix several drops with 1 tsp of virgin coconut oil and gently massage into the area 1-2x a day or as desired.

PMS Relief

Apply 1-2 drops over the lower abdomen; also follow the suggestion for mental stress above.

Oily Skin Relief

Use 1-2 drops topically once a day as an astringent (test for sensitivity first).
